We tend to worry. Why? Putting ourselves in God's hands is
completely safe.
A family was awakened by their smoke detector in the middle of the
night. Their house was on fire. The father ran to the upstairs
bedroom of his children and carried his 18 month old baby under one
arm while dragging his four year old son by the hand.
They were halfway down the stairs when the little boy remembered he
left his teddy bear. So he broke free and ran back to retrieve it.
In the confusion the father didn't notice until he got outside. By
now the little boy was trapped by the flames and smoke. Smoke
swirled around him. He coughed and cried out from the upstairs
window, "Daddy! Daddy! Help me!"
His father yelled from below, "Jump out of the window! I'll catch
you!"
"But Daddy! I can't see you!" the little boy yelled back.
"That's okay, son. I can see you! Jump!"
Afraid of what you can't see? Is the future too dark and smoky?
That's the way life is. None of us can see what lies ahead. But
because of Jesus we can be sure God is there to rescue us.
"Trust my plans," he says. "Jump!"
