It doesn't matter what the lie was about - lying is wrong.  We've all done, or asked others to help us do it.  The results are often bad - not only is it sinful, but it usually has some consequences.  The truth, however, helps to build relationships and trust, even if it's hard to deal with in the moment.  Whether you experiences have been good or bad, feel free to discuss them here...
