Living in an Ungodly World
READ: Titus 2:11-14
After a long day at work, Jill came home and sat down to watch television. As she flipped through the news, all she saw was fires, earthquakes, murders, suicides, programs full of violence, sex, and foul language. “Isn’t there anything good on?” she thought. She decided to listen to the radio instead. She soon found that it wasn’t much better. The first thing that came to her mind was what an ungodly world we live in.
Sometimes we get caught up in ungodliness. Instead of giving in to it, we should turn away from it like Jill did. God tells us in Titus 2:12, “[The grace of God] teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” We want to do this because we, as God’s people are eager to do what is good. Jesus Christ has redeemed us from all wickedness, he gave himself up that we may enjoy everlasting life with Him.
So, the next time we are faced with ungodliness, let us remember what Christ did for us, and what God tells us in His Word.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What kind of ungodly things have you been faced with lately? What can you do when faced with these things? What can you be assured of by turning away from these things?
