Anything Is Possible With God

READLuke 18:18-27

Trent just came home from the store with his new video game.  He played it all Saturday afternoon and well into the night.  When his parents woke him to go to church, he said he was too tired to go.  As soon as they left without him, he got up and played his game some more.  Trent put this game above God, and he knew it.  He went to church every Sunday, but this Sunday he really wanted to play his new game.

In Luke 18:24, God says, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God.”  When we put something above God, we are like the rich man who put his riches above God; we cannot enter the kingdom of God.  But He also says in verse 27, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”  Even though we cannot enter the kingdom of God on our own, with God, even this is possible.

Though it is difficult, we should always remember to put God first in our lives.  God has forgiven past failures.  What is impossible for us is possible with God.  Such grace motivates us in our new choices.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  What was a time when you found it hard to put God above all things?  How did that make you feel?  What was the outcome of this situation?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray that you put God above all things.  Pray for others that put things above God.  Thank God for working good for you in the past, and for being a gracious God.
