Delivered
READ: Isaiah 9:2-7
Often times when we were young, our parents would help us out of trouble. Now, when we seem to have more troubles than ever; we wonder who could ever help us get through them all.
God promised to send the nation of Judah a Light who would shine on everyone during their time of great darkness. God also promised that this Light would be the “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
When we need someone to deliver us from our darkness, we know God will always be there for us. He can be our “Wonderful Counselor” and help us through our troubles. He is the only one who knows how to help us out of every troubling situation. He has set us free from our sin! What person could help us out of that deep hole? This great Light has given us everything we’ve ever needed.
Even when we think no one else is with us, this Light will be with us constantly. Even if our parents can’t help us through troubling times; we know Jesus is at our side. He will always be there to pick us up when we fall. He is our Light.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Why do we most often look for other people to be our “Wonderful Counselor?” How can we remember to look to our Light more often? When are some times we can remember to look to our Light?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to help you remember to pray for guidance in times of trouble. Ask God to help others see that there is a Light in their times of darkness. Thank God for being the “Wonderful Counselor” that He is.
