Deliver Me
READ: Psalm 6
In our lifetime we will go through many troubles and dangers. One day you may have been tempted to smoke. Another, you went to a party and there was alcohol present. Or, how about using God’s name in vain? Everyone does, so why don’t you?
I have yielded to temptation from all of these things, and it hasn’t made my life any better. I don’t deserve to still have God on my side, forgiving and forgetting. Psalm 6 says that we understand God’s power and want Him to be merciful to us when we do wrong. “O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger…” “Be merciful to me…”
God is merciful. Jesus was punished as I deserved. He, in His mercy took the punishment for me and for you, so that we may be with Him in heaven.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Why should God have a reason to rebuke us? In what ways has He? Why does the Lord not rebuke us as we deserve?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank Him for His mercy. Ask for strength to overcome temptations. Ask that we continue to stay in the faith as long as we live.
