Lord Over All

READ:  Micah 5:2-5a

Bill Clinton was born in Arkansas, a small state in the United States.  Despite his humble roots, he studied politics as he grew into adulthood.  Eventually, he became President of the United States.

Jesus' roots were much like Clinton's roots.  Jesus was born in the smallest clan in Judah and many people never thought that He would become a person of great importance.  While Jesus was growing up, He constantly studied God’s Word, for as true man He needed to study.  As Jesus traveled around Israel, He preached God’s Word and performed miracles to show that He is the Son of God.

Although many believed and came to faith, there were more who did not believe.  These were the ones who had Jesus crucified on the cross.  Yet, if it were not for those people, Jesus would not have been able to fulfill His role as our Savior.  Because He was crucified, He gave the forgiveness of sins to all who would believe.

With today’s mission programs, we can extend God’s Word all over the globe as it was said in Micah 5:4b, “And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.”  The same Jesus who was born in Bethlehem is now ruler of the earth.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  How was Jesus’ life as a child similar to our lives?  How can we spread God’s Word?  How close are we to having the Gospel spread throughout the earth?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray for those with a struggling faith.  Pray about hardships that may be approaching a loved one.  Thank God for the mission work that is taking place.
