Really. I Am Sorry

READ:  Luke 3:7-18

If you were talking or gossiping about someone and they found out about it, would you be truly sorry?  Or would it really be that you’re sorry you got caught?  Many times when we realize we've sinned, we hope we can do something good to cover the sin up.  Sometimes we might be sorry and want forgiveness, just so we don’t have to suffer what might come to us, without truly having a change of heart.

In verse 10 of our text, everyone wanted to know what to do or say to get out of trouble and God’s wrath.  John tells them about baptism and how it is a seal of forgiveness given to them.  Although sometimes we say we are sorry, deep inside we do not have a change of heart.  Sometimes we do not have a change of heart because we take for granted that we are a part of God’s family.  We think we can just do sin anyway and be forgiven at any time.

So, even though we like gossiping or doing any other sin, we must watch out that we must honestly and with all our heart be sorry.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  Do you sometimes feel sorry just because you got caught?  How can you truly be sorry?  How can we be saved?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Ask God to help you to truly be sorry and that you not get the attitude that God will forgive you anyway.  Ask God to forgive you and thank Him that He does forgive you.
