Strive for Wisdom
READ: Proverbs 9:8-12
When a person rebukes another person for doing something wrong, the person in the wrong usually gets defensive. If that person is truly a wise individual, he will ignore his pride and take heed of the loving reprimand from his obviously caring friend in Christ. When a wise person hears that he is sinning against his Lord, he immediately wants to remedy his actions.
What are you striving for? Striving for righteousness, knowledge, and truth is the beginning of true wisdom in Christ. In this world it is hard to always hold true to what you know in your heart is true righteousness. If everyone would continually add to his own learning by reaching toward wisdom in God’s Word, they would gain knowledge.
This sinful world compromises God's holy virtues. If only they knew that the “beginning of wisdom and knowledge” is the fear of the Lord. When you strive for things that mean something and that are pleasing to God, you feel closer to Him and understand your purpose on this earth.
Stop living for the world. Start living for true wisdom where there is true comfort and true understanding. This understanding is in Christ and His love.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What do you strive for? What is one belief you compromise? Why do you think you have to compromise this belief?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to give you true wisdom. Ask for help to keep from compromising what you believe. Pray that the world won’t intimidate you in your quest for knowledge.
