Blood Gone Unnoticed
READ: Isaiah 53
“He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
Many of you have probably heard that passage. It’s amazing that we can say and read this so casually, even after considering its significance.
When I was seven, I fell off my bike and skinned my knee. Immediately, several people in my family were surrounding me with comfort and helping me. Yet, Christ was scorned as nails pierced Him in agony. He was mocked as a crown of thorns dug into His skull.
How often do we thank Him for this? Far too often we consider Jesus’ suffering and death as just another one of those Bible stories sitting in a book in our locker. But it did happen. His torment was very real. He experienced it all for us.
It would be impossible to thank God enough for all he has done for us. But that shouldn’t stop us from thanking him as often as we can!
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Think back to the last time you prayed, what did you say to God to show that you recognized what He’s done for you? How have you thanked Him for His sacrifice? Have you taken His suffering for granted?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank God for the blood He shed for us. Praise Him for His countless other blessings. Pray that you never forget what He’s done.
