Strength in the Lord
READ: I Peter 3:8-15
True brotherly love is the meaning behind these verses. It talks of how we should not repay evil with evil. If someone makes fun of you, you should not try to get them back for what they did. “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.”
As a fellow brother to one another we must “sympathize with one another, loving the brethren” return each evil act with a “blessing.” “For this purpose you were called, that you might be heirs of the blessing.”
Should God permit some evil to strike us, the apostle again has a word of comfort, “The malice of your enemies will reach a point where the very fact of your leading a blameless life will act as a spur to their hostile attitude.”
The Lord will provide you with the words you have to say at the time of your questioning or tribulation—“the Lord Christ sanctify in your hearts, always ready with a reply to every one who demands an account of you concerning the hope which is in you.”
The eyes of the Lord are watching over the righteous, and he is listening to all your prayers. “When all his earthly needs are provided for and he can lie down in peace and sleep the sleep of the righteous.”
The Lord will listen to our prayers while we are here on earth, and we will be with Him eternally in heaven.
In conclusion, love your brother and turn your cheek in the time of trial against your enemies. Stay faithful to the Lord and He will bless you and give you the words to say.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How should we repay evil that is brought upon us? Does the Lord hear all our prayers?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask the Lord to help you through all your trials and tribulations of this world until you see Him in your eternal home. Ask for the ability to love all those around you.
