Taken for Granted

READ: Luke 17:11-19

Jesus, on His way to Jerusalem, was confronted by ten lepers. They asked Jesus if He could heal them. Jesus told them to show themselves to the priests. On their way, the lepers were healed. After they realized that they were healed, only one of the lepers came back to give thanks and praise to Jesus. This man was a Samaritan and there were some differences between Jews and Samaritans at the time.

Have you ever taken Jesus for granted like nine of the lepers had done? I know I have. There are many times that I take what Jesus has done for me for granted—especially His dying on the cross for me and everyone else in this world.

Many people take Jesus’ gift of life for us for granted. By His willingness to die for us, and God’s grace, we can now be saved and live with Him in heaven for ever and ever.

Every day we should pray and thank Jesus for dying for us on the cross to give us eternal life. In doing so, maybe we won’t take His gift of life for granted any longer. We might want to live our lives just as He would, as a gift in return to Him.
