All Eyes On Us

READ: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:14-21
Are you on the basketball team? Do you sing in the choir, serve on Student Council, or play in the band? Many students are visibly active in a all kinds of high school activities. When I say visibly active, I mean that they are involved in activities which people see; in many cases alumni and people from other schools recognize our visibly active students.
Since many of us are so easily reognizable, we need to realize that "all eyes are on us" to see how Christian kids behave when they're out and about. How does it look if a basketball player is recognized by a parent from another school, cursing at at a concert, or one of our student council members is caught possessing drugs? While these scenarios make our school look bad, they have an even more devastating effect: they make our Lord look bad as well, and that is the last thing a Christian would want to do!
Like it or not, as a Christian student, you are a representative of God here on earth. It's not a notion I dreamed up, it is right in the Bible. 2 Corinthians 5:20 says, "We are, therefore, Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us..."
Because of our love for Christ, we are compelled to live a life which pleases God and represents him well. We will do this because we are so thankful that God humbled himself to be our substitute and saved us from hell! I urge you to consider this, and live your life with a thankful and righteous attitude.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What are activities which make Christians "visibly active"? Should these Chrsitian students feel pressure to be held to a higher level of moral behavior? What are public things these students can do to reflect the love of their Savior?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray that God gives strength to all of us to live a good life. Thank God for the gift of His grace. Pray for someone who is struggling with being a good ambassador of Christ.
