READ1 Corinthians 1:1-9

Have you ever stopped and considered how lucky you really are? Most likely you won’t be lucky enough to win the million dollar lottery, but you are not poor either. There are people living on the streets who have no home to go to, while you are living in a warm comfortable house. I mean, you are lucky if your mother makes your favorite meal for dinner, while there are people who are lucky if they will even get something to eat.

In the Scripture it says that we should thank God for the blessings that He has given us, and we should; but we shouldn’t stop there. We should pray to God to help other people who don’t have homes to go to, and we should do our best to help those in need. We can do our part by helping to feed the homeless, by sharing our outgrown clothing, by providing homemaking services or companionship to the elderly or by giving financial assistance to charitable organizations. There are several different ways you can help others. If you have trouble thinking of some, or have any other troubles, just take them to God in prayer and He will help you.

If you really think about it, what are you most thankful for? Paul wrote in I Corinthians 1:4, “I always thank God for you because of His grace given you in Christ Jesus.” This shows the appreciation we ought to feel for our gift of salvation through Christ. What greater help can we give to others than the knowledge of God? After all, those who don’t know Him are the neediest of all.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What can you do to help other people who are less fortunate than you? What are you thankful for?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank God for what you have. Ask God to help others in need. Ask God to help you to be stronger in thanking and helping others. Ask Him to especially help you to help others find Him.
