God's Plan of Salvation

READ: Luke 2:21

Take a moment to think about God’s wonderful plan of salvation, and just how wonderful it is. Think of how God let His one and only Son to suffer and be crucified to save all of those who believed in Him. God gave up His Son for us, and the text for this devotion shows us the start—the carrying out of God’s wonderful plan.

“…He was named Jesus, the name the angel had given Him before He had been conceived.” This is the start of Jesus’ many years of suffering on our behalf. This is where Jesus shed that first drop of blood for our salvation. If Jesus had not accepted the task that God the Father had sent Him to the earth to carry out, none of us would be going to heaven. But, Jesus did carry out God’s plan. As soon as Jesus was conceived, He had already started the task of winning our salvation. How gracious it was of Him to give Himself for us.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What caused Jesus to give Himself up for us? What were some of the other steps in God’s plan of salvation?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray to God to thank Him for allowing His Son to be given up for our salvation. Pray a prayer of thanks that Jesus did take that first step in God’s wonderful plan of salvation.
