Disrespecting God

READ: Matthew 21:1-11

During chapel Joe and Chad were goofing around. They were laughing and talking. Next to them Kelly was taking a nap. And they were doing all of this during the chapel message.

This isn't good..these people are showing a great deal of disrespect by messing around during chapel. They are turning their backs on Jesus, the one who died for them.

In Matthew 21:1-11, the people praised Jesus and showed him total respect. That is the way that we should respond every time that God’s Word is being shared with us. We should sing the hymns during chapel and church and show respect by listening eagerly to the Gospel message.

Next time you are in church or chapel or anywhere that the Gospel message is being taught, praise God by respecting the speaker and listening carefully to his message. Sing the hymns and songs joyfully and eagerly. It is the best way to praise God, and a wonderful opportunity to thank God for all that he has done.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Why do people mess around during chapel or church? What holds us back from singing and shouting God’s praise as the people on Palm Sunday did?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray that you and others resist the devil's temptations and always praise God with your actions. Ask for the courage to correct and encourage others in their worship.
