Christ's Sacrifice

READ: Romans 5:6-11
Ever since we were little children, we were taught that Jesus had suffered and died to save us from our sins. Many times when we hear this, it is taken for granted because we have heard it so many times before.
In Romans, the apostle Paul reminds us just how great a sacrifice Christ made for us. Paul points to the fact that no one would give up their own life for an ungodly person. If anyone would even dare to lay down their life, it would be for a righteous person, rather than an evil person. When we look at Jesus’ sacrifice from this perspective, we can start to understand the great love that our Savior has demonstrated for us. His love appears all the more powerful when we look at how sinful we are ourselves. Just think about the wonderful gift of eternal life which we will receive because Christ took on the punishment for all of our sins and forgave us.
Knowing our Savior’s great love for us, which is stronger than any love that exists here on earth, how can we refuse to live our lives to God’s glory? No act of love which we can perform will ever measure up to the sacrifice our Savior made for us. Out of love for our God we should still strive to keep His commandments.
So, remember, whenever you are reminded of Jesus’ sacrifice, think about the love it took for Him to do it so willingly.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What is the reason our Lord died for us? What are things we, as Christians, can do to demonstrate our love for God?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank God for sending His only Son to pay for our sins. Ask the Lord to send the Holy Spirit to strengthen you so you can live your life for God.
