Perserverance

READ: Matthew 15:21-28

Jake was tired of having his parents either chauffeuring him around, or asking his parents for permission to use the car. He asked them for the care one night but they said no. He asked them again, but they still said no. He thought about it for a while, and he came up with an idea. He begged his parents every day to buy a car, he even promised to pay for it with the money he saved from work. Finally after weeks of nagging, Jake’s parents said, “Okay,” and they were soon looking for a car. Perseverance is what got Jake the car.

We can do the same thing with God when we pray. We might not get a new car, but we can ask for other things such as a stronger faith or guidance when we are stressed out. We won’t get everything that we ask for because it wouldn’t be good for us, or because we aren’t ready for it yet. Perseverance is what got the Canaanite woman what she wanted when her daughter was demon-possessed. Jesus saw her faith and how strong it was. Through that perseverance, her daughter was healed. We may not always get what we want, but we can always go to God for whatever we need and ask for it. Perseverance will increase the strength of your faith and increase your communication with God - which are both wonderful blessings, whether you get what you ask for or not!

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How can perseverance get us a better relationship with God? How does God answer our prayers?
