Prayer and Intercession

READ: Romans 8:26-27
When I was a young child, my mother and I would pray together before I went to sleep. Now that I’m older, it’s up to me to talk to God in my own words. Sometimes it’s hard to get motivated, but once I start I can cover a lot of areas. I pray for all sorts of reasons: for safe return from a trip, in thanks for a gift, for a request, for forgiveness and for help, am lonely, sad or scared. I often find that too many times these are the only reasons I pray to God.
In the Bible, God tells us to pray regularly, boldly and confidently, by faith in Jesus, and in times of trouble. He tells us to pray about anyone or anything, any time and anywhere, knowing He has the power to do far more than we ask.
The Holy Spirit helps us to pray in the right way, and acts as our translator to God, because He knows what we ought to pray for in our hearts. From these passages we also know that the Holy Spirit is true God because He does things only God can do, like know what we are feeling in our hearts.
If you’re having trouble with finding what to pray in your prayers, turn to these passages in Romans, and remember that Jesus is your true friend. Remember that Christ has died for you, and certainly is concerned about what you have on your mind.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What does a Christian pray for? Why? When and where should we pray? How do these passages prove the Holy Spirit is true God?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray that the Holy Spirit encourages you to pray regularly, boldly and in the name of Jesus. Confess that you are a sinner, thank God for forgiveness, and praise Him for being so merciful.
