Why Me?

READ: 1 Thessalonians 1:1-5a
Why do I have to do this? Why do I have to tell others about Christ? Can’t someone else do it?
Have you ever thought about these questions before? I have. My answers haven’t always been what they should have been. Many times I have thought that telling others about Christ is a waste of time, or that someone else should do it. Then I look at this Bible passage.
You and I both know that God has chosen us to be his children, but what about the unbelievers in this world? Some don’t even know that there is a Savior from their sins. We should want to tell others about the Savior. We want to do this out of love. Proclaiming Christianity doesn’t mean that you have to preach. You may just proclaim Christ by your actions. You may or may not know it, but little kids do look up to older people—to them you are an older person.
Telling others about Jesus won’t be easy. You may be made fun of or laughed at. This is what Paul means when he says in verse three "labor prompted love." But we can endure the trials of sharing Jesus with other joyfully, because the Holy Spirit promises to work through you to bring others to faith.
Here is another comfort for us: in verse two, Paul says that he mentions the Thessalonians in his prayers. What a joy to know that you too are being prayed for by other Christians! Whenever you think that you don’t want to tell others about Jesus, remember those who may never hear the Word of God and will go straight to hell. God will give you the strength and courage to “Just Do It!”
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Why do you have to tell others about Jesus? Who will always be with you? Will it be easy? Why not?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray for those who are telling others about the Savior and for all other believers. Ask God for the strength and courage to proclaim Christianity. Thank God that He has prepared a place for you in heaven.
