I Can Shine

Basketball is a passion of mine. I’ve been playing the game ever since I can remember. Grade school was the first time I played with a team. Since my grade school was so small, we never had try-outs, which meant that anyone could make the team. I played from fourth to eighth grade. Then high school came. There would be try-outs for the first time.

I came to the first day of try-outs not knowing what to expect. My knees began shaking, there were so many girls. I was really nervous, but I knew that if I tried my hardest, everything would work out. The competition was tough—nothing at all like grade school. I prayed every night that God would give me the strength to work my hardest. In the end, I made the team.

All through life, we are faced with many challenges. To get through them, we need to trust in God. He will give us the strength we need to shine. With God’s help we can persevere in this life, and in the life to come.

Whenever I am faced with a problem, whether it is a test coming up or a friend in need, I always go to God for His strength. And I know everything will be great in the end.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What qualities do I need to develop to be a better light for my Lord? List times of disappointment in which God worked everything out in the end?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank God for strength. Pray for others who may need help.
