Choices
READ: Psalm 16
Dick was a senior in high school and he was faced with many, many choices. Dick was worried about the future, particularly getting into college. He wasn’t the brightest student, and he wasn’t sure that college was the only way to be successful. He thought about cheating to get ahead, but he also thought that God has a purpose for us all, and he knew that cheating was not the way to go.
In Psalm 16:5 David says, "Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure."
Many students face the same problems. They worry about getting good grades so that they can insure themselves a successful future, but what is a successful future? Having lots of money? Being famous? All this is nice, but let us not forget that none of that is possible without God.
You see, God is the one that guides and directs our future, not us. We should also realize that money is not the only thing that matters. You see, money can’t be taken with you to heaven.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What do you think is the most important thing in your life? What problems are faced with? How will you deal with those problems?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to watch over us. Thank God for insuring our future. Pray that God will be with us as we make those had decisions.
