Prepare the Way

READ:  Luke 3:4

Have you ever been in a situation where you could have been a witness, but chose not to?  Last summer Jimmy had a job where his fellow employees often used bad language.  Jimmy knew in his heart that it wasn’t right, but yet he kept silent.  Jimmy was afraid that he would be ridiculed or made fun of if he spoke his beliefs.

Just as John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus, we should be witnesses and prepare the way for his second coming.  We shouldn’t be afraid to witness because in Luke 3:4b it says, “Prepare the way for the Lord and make straight paths for him.”  We should follow this command and prepare everyone we can for the coming of the Lord.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  When is a time you could have been a witness but didn’t?  What motivates you to prepare for the coming of Jesus?  How can you witness to others?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Ask for the strength to be a witness.  Pray for all the “Jimmies” in this world who are hesitant to witness.  Pray that others open their hearts for the Lord’s second coming.  Thank Him for the opportunity to be His witness.
