Witness Your Faith
READ: I Corinthians 15:12-20
Marcia was at work. She was on her break, eating dinner with her friends. The conversation deepened and Marcia’s friends found out she went to a Christian school. (Everyone else who worked there went to the local public high school.) Jimmy could not understand why she would go to a Christian high school, when the public school was so close.
Jimmy asked, “What do you learn that is so different from what we learn?”
Marcia replied, “Well, we learn about Jesus and how He died for us and rose from the dead to save us from the devil.”
“You mean you believe one man died for the whole world and rose again from the dead?” Jimmy could not understand. Marcia shared a Bible passage she had once learned with him.
“And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either...But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep." (I Cor. 15:14-16,20)
Jimmy was a little confused, so Marcia decided to invite him to church. Jimmy decided to go, and now he is a member of Marcia’s church.
Now, instead of Marcia witnessing in the break room, it’s Jimmy. Jimmy will never forget that day Marcia talked to him and what she told him. He’s looking forward to the perfect day when we will all be raised from the dead, to live in perfect happiness forever.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How do you confess your faith at work? How will God help you witness? What can you do to help others let their light shine?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to help you be a better witness and to teach you not to disguise your faith.
