Be Living Sacrifices
READ: Romans 12:1-5
Jim is a responsible 16 year old. He was at a party, and everyone was drinking, smoking, and using foul language. Jim turned down the liquor, but his friends didn’t. His friend Scott was committing sexual acts with a girl at the party. Jim told Scott, “I think you have had more than enough to drink tonight.”
Scott said, “I don’t have to listen to you, you’re just a Mama’s boy.”
On Monday Jim talked to Scott about his behavior at the party. “Scott, drinking to get drunk and having sex is sinning against God. You should really take this into consideration whole heartedly. You also are giving yourself and your body a bad reputation.”
Have you ever found yourself following the world’s way of thinking? I think we can all answer yes at times, including myself. The world tempts us with phrases such as, “Come on, everyone is doing it.” Daily we are constantly tempted by this way of thinking. That is why we daily need to repent of our sins to God, asking Him for His forgiveness.
We should all be like Jim, offering our bodies as living sacrifices, giving glory to God. This is what God commands in Romans 12:1, “Therefore brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God this is your spiritual act of worship.” We want to do what is right to show God our thanks for sending His Son who saved us from our iniquities. His Son washed away all our sins, enabling us to enter heaven.

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God for His help to resist the world’s temptation. Thank God for sending His Son to save us from the world. Thank God for the assurance that we will be spending eternity with Him.
