Undeserved Love

READLuke 7:36-50

Have you ever felt that you are so sinful, maybe having a "pet sin" you commit over and over, that God won’t forgive you?  Say you haven’t been going to church regularly any more.  You slowly slip away from God’s Word and don’t really notice it.  Soon, some things start to go wrong and you turn to God in prayer.  You notice all the wrong and sinful things you’re doing, even the littlest things you never noticed before.  You think, “I knew this was wrong, and I continued to do it anyway.  How can God forgive me?  Who knows, I’ll probably do these things again.”

In the text above, you read that this woman, who led a sinful life, worshipped Jesus despite her low position in life.  Although she had lived a very sinful life, many people would have thought, “What is she doing, He knows about her,” just as the man in the text did.

Despite this woman’s sinful life, the Lord out of love forgave this woman.  He said, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

The next time you think that God won’t have the patience or just knows how sinful you are, think of this text and lesson.  I’m sure you’ll find comfort in it.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  Why do you think God forgives us so many times?  What will you take comfort in when you’ve done wrong and need forgiveness?  Why?  Who will you turn to in times of trouble?  Why?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray to strengthen your faith.  Thank God for forgiveness of sins.  Thank God for His love and patience.
