Strength

READ: Ephesians 1:16-23

Do you remember a time when you thought you would show off by weight lifting more than you can?  For instance when benching, let's say your maximum limit is 170 pounds.  So to show off you would lift 180 pounds.  Then you couldn’t do it so you had to have someone help lift if off your chest so that you don’t injure yourself.  You could try with all your strength, but you couldn’t do it unless you were stronger in your determination.

The same determination and persistence is needed in our faith.  No matter how strong our faith, once in a while we need help from God to lift our spirits back up.  We as sinners cannot keep anything consistent.  As stated in Ephesians 1:19-20, “And his incomparably great power for us who believe.  That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at the right hand in the heavenly realms.”  Through these words God wants us to put all our trust in His Son, Jesus Christ.

So, as we go our into the world, let us remember that no matter what happens, we can’t do anything without Jesus Christ.  When we’re down, we need Jesus to lift our spirits back up.  Remember to use effort when you pray and mean it.  If God wants to answer your prayers, He will answer them with yes, no, or maybe.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How well do you know our Lord Jesus Christ?  How often do you pray?  Would you stand up for God or back down when your friends are saying bad things about Him?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to give us enough courage to talk to our friends about Him and bring them to His Word.  Pray to God to watch over everyone especially our families.  Pray that God would not send us weather that is too harsh, either too hot or too cold.
