The Many Temptations of Life
READ: I Corinthians 6:12-20
Austin and Jason were best friends. They were next door neighbors and knew each other since they were five years old. They went to separate schools and led separate lives, but no matter what, they were there for each other.
Jason was sexually active and got his girlfriend pregnant. He felt so bad and knew that his life would never be the same. Jason felt so guilty for what he had done, and thought that God could never forgive him.
Austin, however, showed Jason an alternate path. He reassured him of his forgiveness and told him that even though his life would not be the same, that he should make the best out of what he had.
I think that we all know that sexual immorality is wrong. God states in I Corinthians 6:18, “Flee sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.”
The devil tries to tempt us with so many things, and at the age we are now, this is one of the major temptations in life. Look to God for help. With God by your side, anything is possible. Learn from the mistakes of others and realize that even though the world may portray sex as being just fine before marriage, look to what God has to say on the subject and follow His will.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How many times do you think of the consequences of your actions before you act? Does God’s love shine in your actions? Are you there for friends who need your help?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to help you through your everyday temptations. Thank Him for all the great friends you do have. Pray for those who are sexually sinning, that they find the truth in God’s Word.
