Witnessing for the Gospel
READ: I Corinthians 15:1-10
One of the most important aspects about witnessing is getting the message of the Gospel to others. Christians daily witness to the outside world through their actions. However, sometimes making a point of witnessing to an outsider is a little more difficult. As a senior taking a Teenage Evangelism class, I am learning the process of becoming a more effective witness. A few steps include how to begin a conversation with appropriate introductions and how to get to know someone through careful listening skills. My study of how to become a more effective witness also involves the ability to relate to others so that I may be able to express my faith to them. By applying the knowledge of what I know about them to what God says, I can connect the two together.
After receiving the law portion of the Bible, I can show the person how there is also hope through the Gospel. In I Corinthians 15:3b-4, Paul expresses the heart of the Gospel. He writes, “...that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,...” In I Corinthians 15:2a, Paul reminds us that, “By this Gospel you are saved,...” His resurrection means that our faith is not futile. Christ died for everyone’s sins. He did this free of charge, no strings attached.
This message needs to be heard by everyone! Because He did this loving deed, we are all saved! Isn’t that GREAT? However, there are people who do not know this. As Christians, we have the privilege and duty to let others know about this. Remember, the most important part of witnessing is to proclaim the message of the Gospel to everyone. Everyone needs to know of the great gift.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What makes it hard for some Christians to witness? What could you do to improve your ability to witness? How important is the Gospel to you?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray that God would open the hearts of those you witness to and thank Him for opening your heart to the Gospel message.
