Righteousness with Christ
READ: Jeremiah 23:2-6
Mary and Beth were both invited to a party last Saturday and they both knew there would be alcohol there. The girls debated on whether to go or not. Mary decided that she didn’t want to take the risk, but Beth, on the other hand, decided to go. While at the party, Beth got drunk and it led her to do something with her boyfriend that she now regrets. Beth told Mary everything that happened and asked how God could ever forgive her for this. Mary told her that she was forgiven because of what Christ did for her sins. Beth rejoiced when she was reminded of God’s love for her.
Like Beth, there are many times in our lives when the devil leads us astray and causes us to do things that are unpleasing to God. However, we can be assured that no matter what sin we have committed, God will love us, forgive us, and lift us up to righteousness.
In Jeremiah 23:2-6, the Lord declares, “The days are coming when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.”
Let us never forget what Christ did for us, so that we could be saved. Since Christ the King lives in us, we have the power to say “No!”
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What can you do to help prevent yourself from making the wrong decisions like Beth did? What can you learn from the story about Beth? Why did God love us so much that He sent His Son to save us?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray to the Lord, asking for forgiveness for the sins that you have committed. Pray for your friends or relatives that you know have done something against God’s will. Pray to God, thanking Him for such a wonderful gift that He gave us.
