Trusting In Our Lord Jesus

READ: I Kings 17-20

How many times has somebody said to you, “Trust me, everything will be fine.”  I’m sure everybody had heard this more times than they can count.  Having complete faith in someone is not something that should be thrown around lightly, without giving it much thought.  For a lot of people, putting their trust in someone is not a very easy thing to do.  Others are sometimes too trusting and are often hurt or disappointed with the results.  As sinners, it is hard for us to have faith in someone because we are naturally suspicious of everything we come by.

The only person that will always be there for us, and someone we can put all of our faith in, is Jesus Christ.  An example of incredible faith put in God by Elijah is written in I Kings 17:1-6.  In this text Elijah was told to go to a ravine, and God would supply him with food that would be brought by ravens every day.  Elijah had a strong faith that we all should strive to mirror.  He knew God was watching over him every day and would take care of him.  Elijah never once questioned Jesus and always did whatever was asked of him.  As written in I Kings 18:36, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.”

We should all strive to have such a strong faith in Jesus, as Elijah did, because God will always be watching over us and everything we do.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What are some things we can do as Christians to strengthen our faith in Jesus?  Have you ever been in any situations where you might have doubted your faith in Jesus?  Why do we sometimes lose faith during difficult times?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to help strengthen our faith in Him.  Thank God for always being there for us when we needed Him the most.  Pray that we may always have complete faith in Jesus no matter what the situation.
