Stay Focused
READ: Colossians 3:1-5
What are your priorities? A date for the next dance? A smile from that special guy? A new car? Everyone knows that a social life is important, but when it becomes the priority around which the rest of your life is centered, then you have a problem! A study of high school students showed that those who earned the best grades and stayed on course were the ones who had set goals for the future. Be honest about your priorities. Do you live for Saturday night’s party, or do you realize that you are here for a larger purpose? Do you recognize the seriousness of sharing your testimony for Christ? Good times are fun and necessary, but don’t forget the more important priorities in life.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Which of my goals and priorities appear to be self-centered? List the Christ-centered goals and real priorities of life: personal ones and ones that relate to others.
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Talk with God about dates, cars and other earthly things. He cares about those things too. Focus on spiritual needs and spell them out to your Lord. Ask Jesus for help with the sins that creep back in over and over again. Thank the Lord for forgiveness and the faith to focus on Him.
