Nothing to Fear

READPsalm 27

One time, when I was sitting at home all by myself after watching a frightening movie, I was scared.  I found myself on the couch with the blankets pulled over my head with the television on.  I tried to convince myself that there was nothing to be afraid of, but I still thought of the movie.  I did not know what to do.  My parents would not be home for hours.  I was stuck at home terrified.  I tried to take my mind off of it by watching television, but nothing was on.

All of a sudden, my eyes saw a Bible sitting on the shelf.  I ran to it, opened it up, and began to read.  It had opened up to Psalm 27, where I read that God was with me and that there was nothing to fear.  I found great comfort in this Psalm.

Now, whenever I am scared, I read this Psalm and find that I am no longer afraid, but brave enough to take on whatever comes my way.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  Is there a time when you were scared?  How can you combat your fear with the Word of God?  What if I can’t find a Bible to read when I’m afraid?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Thank God for being with you and protecting you.  Pray that you realize God is with you.  Ask God to help you both read and make His word part of your life and memory.
