Jesus Stands Beside You
READ: 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18
Jordan was two years older than his brother, Sam. They played together nicely when they were alone, but when other children were around Jordan, he had a tendency to show off. One day Sam had two of his friends over to play. Jordan knew that he was not allowed to throw his football around in the house, but he did it anyway. When he broke his mother's favorite vase, he blamed it on Sam. Sam's friends went along with it because he was older and they wanted Jordan to think they were cool. The boys' mother did not believe Sam either when he told her that Jordan threw the ball. Sam got punished for it.
Sometimes it seems as if we are standing all alone. We have the feeling that everyone is out to get us. Even our friends are against us. The Apostle Paul found himself in that very situation. When he was in prison, those who had been his friends did not defend him, but deserted him. However, Paul knew that there was someone at his side, his Lord Jesus Christ. He writes in 2 Timothy 4:16-17, "Everyone deserted me...but the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength."
So, the next time you get that lonely feeling, remember that Jesus is beside you. He is able to give you more help and strength than anyone in the world ever could.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Where do you go for help when you have a problem? Who understands our troubles when no one else does? What should we remember when the world turns against us?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God for help with any problem you may be facing. Thank Him for His constant presence in your life. Pray that you may show your love for Him by reaching out to others in need.
