Worry About Witnessing?
READ: 2 Timothy 1:8
James was working one night after school. It was only his third day at the job. He heard some of his coworkers talking about evolution and religion, so he listened to their conversation. He wanted to go over and talk with them about God and answer their questions, but he was too afraid that they would think he was one of those crazy religious fanatics. He wanted to share the message, but he also wanted to fit in at work. He didn't want to take the chance of being thought strange by the other employees.
In 2 Timothy 1:8 Paul says, "So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord—But join with me in suffering for the gospel." Sharing God's Word is especially tough when we are not sure that the people around us will accept it. God knows how hard it can be, and He promises to be with us at all times-just like He was with Paul and Jesus' disciples when they went through hardships.
With His help we can make the most out of every opportunity we have to witness. God wants us always to remember that He put us in those situations for a reason, and He will get us through them. We also should not be ashamed of God because He gave us eternal life. Hardships might come because of testifying for Jesus, but we can learn from the disciples' examples of patience, trust, and endurance.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What are some situations for us to talk about God? Why might we be afraid to? How can we get over those fears?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank God for giving us His message to share. Ask Him to help us tell others about Him. Pray for others to be willing to listen to us.
