Rejoice and Be Glad

READ: Psalm 118

Kevin was a very unhappy person. He always woke up crabby and he hated the world. He didn't look around him and see all of the beautiful things God had put around him. Kevin thought when the sun was out, that it was too bright. He thought that when the flowers bloomed, all they brought were the bees. And finally, when it snowed, he had to shovel it.

Jason was a happy go lucky, cheerful person. He loved and thanked God for what He had done for him daily. He loved being nice to strangers and he always stopped to look at all the scenery around him. Jason thought the exact opposite of Kevin. When the sun was out, Jason thanked God for the wonderful sunshine. When the flowers bloomed, he was thankful for all the wonderful smells. When it snowed outside, Jason loved how beautiful it looked.

As you can see, these are two totally different attitudes towards everyday living. Of course, Jason's attitude is God-pleasing and one that we all should have. God made everything beautiful and for a purpose. Every day has it's own special touch. God wants us to thank Him and realize what He's done for us and be happy because of it. He says this in Psalm 118:24, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."

As Christians, we should show our love and thankfulness to God. He makes every day special for us to enjoy and to show His love towards us. We should be happy and try our best to show our thankfulness to Him.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What are some other things that God does to show His love for us? What can we do to show our gratitude towards Him? What can we do to help people who have Kevin's attitude?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank God for making another beautiful day for us. Ask God for additional ways to show our thankfulness. Pray on behalf of those with a not-so-good attitude for every day living.
