Time for Prayer
READ: Matthew 7:7
It was getting to be that time of the year at school for Tim. Tim had so much going on for him at that time that he was having a hard time handling things. It was final exam time, and he seemed to have either a paper or a project due in every one of his classes. He was working twenty-five plus hours/week at his job because they were short-handed. And to make things even worse, just the night before he had broken up with his girlfriend. It seemed like nothing was going right for him.
Tim decided that he would take some time away from all his problems, and he went to church on Sunday. The text that the pastor chose Matthew 7:7, "Ask, and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you."
That passage stuck with him and made him think, "I need to ask God to help me get through everything successfully. I need to go out and seek God's guidance and direction. I must knock on God's door and He'll guide me through everything with His Word and it will all work out for the good."
So Tim prayed to God and asked for help in getting through everything. He asked God that everything go well and that he keep his faith in God. And God answered his prayers.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: When is it considered too much for a person to handle? What can you do to prevent yourself from taking on too much? When should you pray to God?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: As things get to be more than you can bear, pray more for help. Ask God for the patience and the ability to grin and bear it. Thank God for all the times He pulled you through your worst days.
