Security in Jesus

READ: Psalm 91:1-8

Davey was watching the movie, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” After the movie was over, Davey went to bed. Davey still had scenes of the movie running though his head. In the middle of the night, Davey ran to his mom crying. He tried to explain his nightmare of how the Grinch was going to force him to be his reindeer to pull the sleigh. Davey’s mom reminded Davey that it was just a dream. She also reassured him that he would be safe.

There’s a lesson we can learn from this. In this world people try to persuade and force others to do actions against God’s will. These actions may include alcohol, drugs, or abuse to others. Davey dreamed that the Grinch was going to use him as a reindeer. The same fear is for us, that the devil would use us as helpers. We can find strength and security in the words from Psalm 91:3-5, “Surely, he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you up with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Do you remember any nightmares? How could you apply this to your life? How has God kept you under His wings? What would be the worst real nightmare in your life?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask that God would always put His wings around us when the devil tries to use us. Thank the Lord for the protection we are enjoying. Pray for a friend who is experiencing a “nightmare” in life today.
