Our Father

READ: Psalm 23
Do you ever remember walking with your father through a park as a kid; walking around the giant trees, maybe rolling in the grass or leaves? You would walk all over the place, and everything was calm and peaceful. After a lot of walking, your legs might have gotten tired, so he would lift you up on his shoulders and carry you some of the way. Stopping to catch a drink at a water fountain, he would lift you up so your mouth could touch the cold water.
Then, while you were running after a squirrel, you fell and scraped your knee against the sidewalk. The fall didn't draw blood, but maybe a tear fell from your eye. Dad was right there to pick you up and to help you by kissing it and making it all better. And when you got home, tired from your walk, you would fall asleep in his arms, safe from all danger.
God is just the same, always with us through our entire lives. Psalm 23 says "The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want." He is our supreme father in heaven who comforts us. Cradled in His loving arms, danger is nowhere is sight. With God, "Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Why does God love me so much? In what ways has God fulfilled your wants? How has God kept you out of the shadow of death?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank the Lord for doing things for you. Confess that you let Him down by sinning. Ask Him to continue to keep you safe.
