The Light

READ: 2 Corinthians 4:5-12

It was a very dark night, and a storm was brewing outside. The wind whistled through the trees. Little Cara's bedroom was so dark that she couldn't see anything and was very afraid. All of a sudden she saw a light coming down the hall. Her mother came into her room with a flashlight. She had come to check on Cara. Cara was so happy to see her mom and the light.

Just like Cara, we all were in the dark. Sin covered us on all sides. The devil "whistled" all kinds of temptations in our ears. We were doomed to go to hell. No matter how hard we try, we can never be good enough. "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God." This, however, is not the end. Jesus came into the world to suffer and die for our sins. He endured everything so that we could have everlasting life.

We, like Cara's mom, have light. This light is the good news of Jesus Christ. There are many "Cara's" in the world. They are lost and scared in the darkness of sin. We must share the good news with others. Cara was comforted when she saw her mother's light. The Gospel will also provide comfort to the unbelieving world. We, as believers, have to let God's Word be known and be a comfort to others. Just as Paul says, "Let light shine out of darkness."

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Do you let God's light shine in your life? What are some ways that you can shine God's light in this darkened world?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to give you strength to let His light shine. Thank Jesus that He came to this earth to pay for everyone's sins. Ask the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of those which you touch each day.
