READ: Romans 8:1-5
“What’s wrong, Jeff, aren’t you feeling well?” Scott said when he saw Jeff sitting in the corner of the room by himself.
“I just want to be left alone,” replied Jeff. “I can’t forgive myself for the things I have done that were wrong.”
“But Jeff, you know that if we repent of our sins, the Lord has forgiven them.”
“Is that really enough? I mean it just doesn’t seem like enough for all the wrong things that I have done,” answered Jeff.
“Here Jeff, take a look at Romans 8:1-5. I think it has just what you’re looking for.
Sounds pretty familiar, doesn’t it? We all feel down in the dumps at one time or another. Sometimes, however, we don’t always have a friend there to help us through. That’s when we have to look to God’s Word for our answer. Even when it seems like everything is going wrong and that no matter how hard we try, we can’t do anything right, God is there for us. He is there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year, no matter what time it is, where you are, or how you are feeling.
He is the most reliable source for helping you through your tough times. The Lord will hear all your prayers, and promises to answer either “yes,” or “no,” or “not right now.” Yes, you should be troubled by your sins, but because of our loving Lord, we know we have been forgiven through Jesus Christ. So, whenever you’re having a bad day, look to God's Word, and you won’t need to look anywhere else.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What should we do when we are down in the dumps? Isn’t everything that happens to us part of God’s plan for us? Will God ever let things get more out of control than we can handle?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to let His will be done in everything we do. Ask for the ability to follow the example of Jesus. Pray for patience when bad days come and to allow the Lord to help us through our difficulties.
