Singing Praises to the Lord

READ: Psalm 66:8-9, 20
I remember sitting in chapel one morning, when this young boy who was a freshman sat next to me. He seemed quite shy, withdrawn and distant. The bell rang and the organ began to play. I opened my hymnal and began to sing. I looked up and noticed the boy had no hymnal. He just sat there slumped in his chair staring at the floor. I slowly moved my hymnal towards him. He got the hint and started to sing.
Everyday there are plenty of opportunities for us to shine like stars and share Jesus with others. How many of us take advantage of this opportunity? Whether you help an old lady across the street or help your younger brother or sister tie their shoelaces, you are shining like a star. We should thank God for what He’s given us and, in return, give it to others.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: As Christians, why are we afraid to ask or hesitate to ask each other for help? How can we encourage each other to do so? As a Christian, could you let your light shine more often or more openly?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray to God for courage to admit when you are wrong and when you need help. (God did not turn His disciples away nor should we turn each other away.)
