Prince Charming
READ: Colossians 1:13-20
You all know how the fairy tale goes: A beautiful princess is captured by a cruel beast and is taken away to his castle. However, along comes Prince Charming, who defeats the beast and rescues the princess. Then the prince takes the princess to his palace and they live happily ever after.
Have you been feeling down in the dumps lately? Ever wish your life was like a fairy tale? Well, it is. Satan is the beast and we were trapped in his dungeon—the dungeon of sin. There is no possible way that we can escape by ourselves, but we have our prince, the Prince of Peace - Jesus who rescued us. Colossians 1:13 says, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.” Jesus loved us so much that He gave up His life for us. That’s more love and riches than any worldly prince could ever give!
The next time your life seems less-than-fairytale-like, think of our Savior. Jesus defeated the devil by laying down His life for us. Because of His sacrifice, we will live happily ever after in heaven.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: With what did Satan have us trapped in his dungeon? Why did God send His Son? What can we do to show our appreciation to the Lord for saving us?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank the Lord for rescuing us from the devil. Pray for those who are still caught in Satan’s grasp, that they may come to know Jesus as their Savior. Ask God to help us when times are a little rough that we may look forward to eternal life in heaven.
