The Greatest Love

READ: 1 John 3:1-2
Do you ever remember getting lost while shopping with a parent? Your parents were always frantic for the time you were gone. Do you remember the look of relief and pure joy on their faces when you were found? They wrapped you in a big hug and told you how much they loved you even though you had disobeyed them and wandered off. They didn’t yell, but just stood there holding you for as long as they wanted to.
This is how God treats us. We are His children and He loves us enough to call us His children. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” He loves us even though we have disobeyed and sinned against Him. We deserve to be punished for this, yet God just keeps on loving us and sent His Son to save us.
How great is this love! To be loved like a child is the greatest love you can possess. This is the greatest love we will ever have. We are God’s children and should always have the great feeling of the unconditional love God has for us. When we get lost He will find us and bring us back to Him.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Why doesn’t God punish us when we disobey Him? Why does God loves us so much? In what ways has God shown His love to you?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray for those that haven’t felt God’s love. Thank Him for the love He has shown you. Thank Him for sending His Son as a result of that love.
