Set a Good Example

READ: Titus 2
There's one in every class. Whether it's Algebra or Chemistry or some other class, one exists. I'm talking about the student that sits in the front of the classroom. The student who never speaks out of turn. The student that takes four pages of notes while the rest of the class dozes off during a history movie. The student always seems to answer correctly any question posed to them. The student the teacher always looks to for the answer after he/she asks the class a difficult question...
How many times has the teacher of that class pointed out this student and encouraged the rest of the class to be more like him/her, to use him/her as an example?
In this section of Titus, Christ tells us to be an example, just as a star student is to the other in the class. In verse six it says, “In everything set them an example by doing what is good.” No matter what we do in our lives, we should always remember there are others around us, and by our Christ-pleasing actions and words, we can be a witness to others.
When we are a Chrsit-like example for others, we are not to be ashamed. Instead, we are open share who we believe in and what we have become because of Him. We should be dedicated and encourage others to follow in the footsteps set by our Savior, Christ Jesus.
While we cannot obey the commandments of God perfectly, we strive to out of love and faith in Christ. We seek to be self-controlled and say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, because of Christ, who set an example for all people to follow as He “lived without sin and redeemed us from all wickedness and purified for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: (Read Titus 2 again) According to what are we to teach and be an example? From what have we received such grace? What are we to teach both men and women?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God for strength to be a good example for others out of love for Him. Thank Him for the grace He has shown to us and for being our example.
