Have You Ever Been Scared?

READ: Psalm 27
Recently I was taking care of some of my friend’s children. They were quite young and still relied upon their Lion King night light to keep them safe from whatever evils they feared in the dark. While I was there, the power went out right before they were to go to bed. This created quite a panic, because they were convinced that the monster that lived under their bed was going to eat them. I sat them down in bed and told them that there weren’t any monsters and that I was there to protect them. I also reminded them that God was watching over them and He wouldn’t let anyone harm them.
In Psalm 27:1 it says, "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?" God makes it clear to us that He is going to be with us and will protect us from all the problems that we may face in our life. Our fears might be different than those of a child, but no mater what problems we face, we can rest easy knowing with certainty that God will always take care of us.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What are you afraid of? Why? Where can you turn for help when you are afraid? How does God help to comfort you when you are afraid?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray for those who don’t know God’s comfort, that they will learn of it. Pray that those who are afraid will find comfort in Christ. Pray that God would strengthen your faith in Him as your Comforter and that you can show your faith by comforting those who are afraid. Thank God for His comfort that He extends to each of us.
