I Want!!!

READ: 1 Timothy 6:6-16
In December I was doing my Christmas shopping when I passed a toy store. At the window was a boy with his nose pressed to the glass. "Oh, I want the blue Power Ranger sooooo much," he said. Later on I as shocked when I saw two teens my age begging their mom for a certain article of clothing. "Please, Please, I have to have it. I’ll just die without it. Everyone else has one…Please, Please…"
I wondered if those two girls knew that God has already given us all that we need and more. 1 Timothy 6:6-8, "But Godliness with contentment is great gain…But if we have food and clothing, we should be content with that…" Why do we constantly feel that God has deprived us of something? The Son of God had all the riches in the heavens and earth and ruled over them all, yet He came to earth to live a poor life. He never complained about all the things that He didn’t have. He gladly bore the burden of sin and died on the cross for us so we might have all the riches of heaven. The next time you feel you absolutely "need" something that you want more than anything in the world; think of what Jesus died without: glory, fame, His reputation, and what He died for: OUR sin. Be content with what you have, and be glad that Jesus did away with the sin that was ours.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: In the past month, name all the things that you "had" to have. Then think about why you needed them. Do you need them now?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray for those who are less fortunate than you. Thank God for all the blessings that He has graciously given you.
