READ: 1 Corinthians 15:12-20

It will be ten years this June that my mother’s only brother was killed in a tragic car accident.  I was only six years old when this happened, but I remember the sorrow and devastation this sad moment brought to our family’s life.  I know that the strong faith of my parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and other countless family members in what Jesus has done and promises to do saw us through this troubling time.

1 Corinthians 15:12-20 says, “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead.”  God’s word tells us that through Jesus’ death and resurrection we have eternal life with Him in heaven.  We have the hope that one day we will be with our loved ones, who died in faith, once again.  Being reunited with loved ones who have gone before us is a great comfort that our Lord Jesus has promised to His children.

How does the world cope with tragedy?  If they do not believe in the message of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, they will surely find no peace.  If we do not believe that Jesus rose from the dead, faith is useless.

God grant that no matter what test of faith we endure, we always draw closer to Him, trust in Him, and keep our hearts and minds fixed on teh promise of our “Heavenly Home.”

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  How does the world cope with tragedy?  How can we tell others about Jesus’ resurrection?  How can we help others to believe in Jesus’ death and resurrection, and reassure them that they will be forever with Jesus in heaven?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray for family members.  Pray for people who need the Word of God in their lives.  Pray for those who have lost someone special in their lives.
