Jesus Is On Our Side
READ: John 10:11-16
A couple of weeks ago, while driving home, I witnessed some older kids surrounding a couple of younger kids at a bus stop. The older kids were much larger in size than the younger ones and they outnumbered the younger ones. The older kids began to harass the little kids, causing most of them to run away. They left behind one child standing among the older kids. The child didn’t back down, though, and eventually the older kids left him alone.
In the parable of “The Shepherd and His Flock,” Jesus takes care of His little sheep just like He took care of the little boy. Jesus is always there for us and protects us. Jesus says in John 10:11, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” He laid down His life for us to forgive us of our sins, and he promises to be with us and protect us from sin and evil.
Jesus is behind us 100%. With Jesus in our corner, we can stand up to our fears and troubles like the little kid stood up to the bullies. We are always safe with Jesus behind us!
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Who is always with us and always on our side? What will defend us against our fears and troubles? How can we teach others about our “Good Shepherd?”
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray for forgiveness of our sins and for others who have sinned. Give thanks that Jesus died for our sins. Give thanks to God for Him staying with us throughout our lives.
