READ: Isaiah 52:13 – 53:12

Perhaps you've heard of people making sacrifices for others.  A mother can’t afford much food so she gives her portion up so her children so they don’t starve.  A movie portrays a soldier jumping on a grenade so the rest of his unit might live.  People sacrifice their time quite often to help certain causes.  There are many examples of sacrifices in today’s world.

Jesus made a sacrifice for us far greater than all of these.  Isaiah reminds us, “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was upon him and by his wounds we are healed.”  Jesus suffered and died for us.  He rose and is now in great glory in heaven.  He is the ruler of all and has promised that someday, he will return to take us to his side forever.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  What has God done for us?  What have we done for God?  What can we do for others?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Thank God for what He has sacrificed for you.  Ask for strength to do His will.  Ask for courage to make sacrifices in your life to help others.
